The hallway was packed with excited and boisterous students, all mostly ecstatic to see their friends but dreading to sit for the lessons. As Taylor, in her usual casual wear, advanced towards her locker, she overheard a group of cheerleaders' conversation on the numbers of guy they managed to hit on during the summer. She rolled her eyes. These people never change. She thought to herself, opening her locker and briefly scanned the schedule for today's lessons.
"Homeroom for the first period? What a great way to start the day off." She mumbled to herself, taking a few books out before closing the locker door with a soft thump.
The moment Taylor reached the entrance of the classroom; a paper plane came crushing onto the wall near her. "Be careful!" She exclaimed to the person that had threw the stuff and walked towards her seat, but not before giving a small wave to Troy and Chad, who were as usual talking about basketball. Even though Taylor had gotten pretty close with Troy and Chad, it still doesn't mean that she had totally accepted the jocks. They are still a bunch of people who like to hurl balls and smell pretty bad in her opinion.
Settling down in her seat, Taylor noticed Gabriella's seat was empty, and her gaze began wandering around the classroom until it came to a stop on two certain Evans. Honestly, she was quite surprised that the Ice Queen was wearing something that seemed much more normal, rather than the typical dazzling outfit plastered with lots of shinning sequins, even though the one today was still quite showy. But the main thing isn't about her outfit; it was something about the twin's behaviors that she could not quite figure out.

Sharpay, who decided to make her first day as a Senior memorable and symbolic for her and her boyfriend, opted to wear a little less dazzling outfit that day. She wore a simple pink tank top, with just a few rhinestones here and there, and a white plaid mini skirt. She looked a little bit more, normal, just the way she and Ryan liked it. Her hair was simply clipped on the sides.
She sat on her seat on the front row in Homeroom, in front of Ryan's and beside Troy's, facing her boyfriend. Her chin was propped on her left hand as they talk as normally as they can. She had to admit, it was really hard to act normally especially when she couldn't help but blush sometimes when they catch each other's eyes, which happened quite frequently that morning, but she was trying her very best. She is an actress, after all, with many years of experience. She was pretty sure it won't let her down this time, or so she hoped.
She hadn't noticed everyone else around the room though, as she was fully focused on the person sitting behind her so she was quite oblivious to their reactions, whether towards her outfit or her behavior.

Kennah Grace made her way down the halls of East High, finally feeling like a senior. She had decided to go a bit more neutral this year, and her flashy pinks and golds turned into plain white and blues. Her white cami and blue mini matched perfectly with her blue sandals and off-white designer tote bag. As she stopped at her locker, Kennah felt a feeling of appreciation for the school wash over her. She smiled and looked around the halls that would contain her for the next 9 months of her life.
Kennah slammed her locker door shut with a bang and strutted down the not-so-crowded hallway. She turned and entered homeroom, smiling as everyone greeted her warmly. Even though she had treated some people better than others over the summer, everyone had forgave her in the end. Even if she hadn't fully forgiven herself. She plopped down in the seat next to the twins and smiled happily. "Hey guys!" she said, re-applying her lipgloss.

Before walking into homeroom, Martha made her way to her locker. On her way there, she greeted several of her friends, excitedly. Oh, how had her Senior year rapidly approached. It seemed as if it was only yesterday that she walked into the halls of East High for the first time. It was then, where she was eager to make friends with students who enjoyed studying as much as she did. It was crazy how time flew by rather quickly.
Now, here she was, beginning her last first day of school. This day only happens 12 times in a students' lifetime. To know that this one particular day was never going to happen again, at least in grade school, made the thought of it rather somber. Martha shook off her thoughts. This wasn't the day to be depressed and moping around, this is the day that changes everything. Which included that push that prepares one for the real world. This is the year that everyone looks forward to. This is the year where you are considered an adult. This is the year where you have to make each day worthwhile.
This is the year
After putting her stuff that she wouldn't need for homeroom, Martha briskly walked into the class. She arrived with her hair fixed the way she usually had it, up, with some hair reaching down to her shoulders. Martha decided to wear a khaki jean skirt with a turquoise blouse. While she walked to her desk, she greeted her friends that were already seated and conversing with one another. She then took a seat and smiled.
This is in fact the year

Ryan couldn't help but keep the grin on his face subdued, he had his hand resting just below his nose as if in deep thought, when in reality he was just trying to hide the goofy smile that was plastered to his face. He was doing a good job at keeping from blushing right now, but he wasn't sure how the rest of the day would turn out, after all the day was just starting.
He sat there in his plain outfit, just smiling at Sharpay as they waited for the bell to ring, he was wondering if people were starting to notice a change with the twins, he was still having a hard time believing it himself. Here they sat, looking normal, no flash, no extra, it was just them for once. He tapped his feet contentedly, he had opted out to wear sneaker, mind they matched, but they were still sneakers all in the same.
Ryan was looking at Sharpay, not truly speaking, just admiring her until he could be with her again once the bell rang again, it was going to be a test of will for them to keep up the same pretenses that would be shirked as soon as school ended. Ryan heard a voice intrude on his thoughts and he snapped from his stupor and looked over. "Oh hey Kennah." He said giving her a smile, catching Sharpay's eyes lightly with with the smallest of winks.

Sharpay couldn't help but giggle lightly when she caught Ryan's little winks. She, too, was snapped out of her trance when she heard a familiar voice greeting the two of them. She faced Kennah, giving the girl a smile.
"Hey Kennah!" she greeted at the same time as Ryan did, making her laugh a little as she glanced at him. She sat up straighter this time, dropping her left arm on Ryan's desk. She watched Kennah re-apply her lipgloss, shaking her head lightly. She would have commented on her choice of lip-gloss color, but she kept that to herself instead. She just wanted to start the first day of school the right way, no enemies, rivals, whatsoever. "So, I guess we're at the same homeroom now." She said, nodding at her.

Taylor's eyes was still fixed on the twin, when Kennah walked into the classroom and sat down next to Sharpay. Another surprising fact was that Kennah wore something more normal too. Is normal outfit the 'in' thing now. Taylor thought, making odd expression to no one but herself. Even Ryan, the one whom everyone thought was kinda gay in his flamboyant clothings, had opted to wear a rather plain clothes with sneakers. Sneakers.
As Taylor snapped out of her reverie, she noticed Martha was in her seat, and scooted to the seat beside her that was empty at the moment. At least she would have a much more intelligent chat with Martha, rather than with some jocks or skater dudes.
"Hi Martha, how's your studies coming?" Taylor asked, knowing that Martha is like her, one who would revise even if it's holiday, because that's their interest.
Occassionally, Taylor would glance over to the twin that seemed so out of mind today. Sharpay was extra friendly and nice to Ryan, ever since she noticed it during the days in the resort. It was just odd, considering the fact that she like to order him around like a lapdog in the past.
She looked back to Martha. "Have you decided what to take up for electives?" She asked.

Kennah smiled at the twins. "Yup! I guess we'll be seeing alot of each other." The thought actually wasn't so bad. They had become her friends over the summer and she liked having genuine friendships instead of just people that followed you around everywhere. But, she did notice something different about the twins. They, too, had dressed normal. And they were acting so..nice. Well, Sharpay was. Ryan had always been nice to Kennah, at least for a while. But, Sharpay hadn't said one crude comment all morning! But, the day wasn't over yet, and Kennah had decided that it may come soon enough.
She threw her lipgloss into her designer tote bag amd smiled as her eyes wandered around the classroom. Alot of students were still missing, but Kennah felt like she actually belogned here. Her gaze went back to the twins, eager to start a conversation. "So, do anything interesting over the summer?" she asked, curious to know what they had done, while all she did was wait on tables. She blew a piece of blonde hair out of her face and put on one of her dazzling smiles.

Sharpay felt her cheeks warming up lightly when asked about the summer that had just passed. She took a side glance at Ryan with a smirk on the corner of her lips, before smiling at Kennah. "Well, we did bond a lot, you know," she pointed at her and Ryan. "After our huge fight, we made...up," she almost said out instead of up, making her giggle a little, "we just had to catch up with each other's lives. But other than that, the usual." She pointed at her slightly tanned skin, smiling proudly of it. She reminisced the times at the Lava Springs pool, spent alone in the day, but when the sun goes down, she wasn't alone on the chaise anymore.
"How about you? What fun things did you do other than washing dishes over the summer?" She grinned at Kennah, shaking her head a little. She didn't know why this girl even had to take summer jobs, she knew they were rich enough to afford her college education.

Kennah blushed at the question, knowing that her parents could easily afford college. "Umm..well, you know..the money." she answered. "My parents are refusing to pay for college. I have to get all the money myself." She sighed a bit dramatically, and began filing away at her nails. She didn't want to show that she had changed drastically over the summer.
"And your tan looks great, by the way." she said to Sharpay, smiling. And it was the turth. Kennah was so jealous. She always burned and never tanned, unless it was artificial. She dropped her black nail file into her tote and crossed her legs, feeling her confidence slowly seeping back into her body.

Bebe tossed a Lightning McQueen bag beside her desk, purple platforms clunking along the side of her desk. Bebe sighed , interlacing her fingers behind her perfectly styled hair. The Borat cut-off tee made her look edgy and ready for business - a look that always made the teachers a little nervous. But then they heard Bebe speak, and they were assured of her studious attitude.
Bebe sat right beside Benji and grinned at the random people around her. Senior year... it would be interesting. Bebe already noticed, to her distaste, that Kennah Grace, that snarky beauty queen, was in her class. Her perfect curls were irksome, at best. Bebe also noticed a few other familiar faces - Sharpay Evans and her brother Ryan; Taylor McKessie, looking as prim and professional as usual; Martha Cox, a boisterous bubble of energy; and, of course, Benji the bad-ass.
Bebe smiled. Interesting crowd. Time to rile em up a bit.
"Hey everybody... anyone got first period Advanced Calculus?"

While in her seat, Martha looked over her schedule. As usual, her class schedule was filled with AP classes. Seniors weren't required to have a full schedule because they took all of their mandatory classes in the prior years, at least they were suppose to. If they didn't, well, this was the year that it caught up to them, thus making the slackers regret it.
Instead of taking electives that most students would take so their schedule could be filled up, Martha opted for extra AP classes. Not only did it create a challenge for her, but it also looked good in college applications. Some only take honor classes because it increases your GPA, but Martha joined for the challenge and studying.
Upon looking up from her current state, which was having her eyes fixated on her schedule, she noticed Taylor move to the seat beside her. At least, now she had someone to talk to, someone who Martha could discuss educational matters with. Taylor had asked her about her studies and whatnot. "Everything has been coming along smoothly, had a bit of a challenge while studying, but overcame it nonetheless." Some of her studies, particularly Chemistry, hadn't made sense to her, so she explored several options before concluding to the correct answer.
Martha noticed that Taylor kept glancing towards the twins. What was so special about them today? Sure they usually had a mob of people greeting their greatness, but still they looked like they had any other day, except for the mob of people. Wait, where was the outrageous outfits? This was definitely weird. She decided to not get involved, she would wait until people started talking. Martha quickly turned her head back from the twins and back to her schedule.
Within moments, she was asked another question, this time about her classes. "Well, I signed up for that new dance class and Drama. As for my other classes, I'm taking AP Chemistry 2, Advanced Calculus, and AP English." She scooted her schedule towards Taylor, so they could compare.
Another person had now came in, it was Bebe. Immediately after she came in, she asked who had Advanced Calculus first period as if trying to brighten up the mood. Martha did indeed have Calculus first period. "I do." She replied.

Bebe nodded at the pleasingly plump dancer. "Awesome. You can help me with derivatives. Something tells me we're gonna start with that..." Bebe rolled her eyes. "I hate them. Derivatives - UGH! And SECOND DERIVATIVES!"
Bebe laughed lightly before a thought struck her. She took a nub of her pencil eraser off and flicked it at the back of Kennah's head. She quickly turned back to Martha and continued talking. "Are you taking Physics for Engineering? That's the only class I don't know anyone in."

Post by Emma the Loyal Sharpette on Nov 6, 2007 21:31:39 GMT -5
"Homeroom.....homeroom...." Emma mumbled to herself as she quickly walked the halls. It seem first period was about to start at any second, since hardly any students were in the halls. She looked down at her schedule, and tried to find the room number she was seeking. Oh how did they expect her to find the classroom all by herself? She had just transfered to East High for her senior year, and the principal just sent her along without so much as a map!
She heard a warning bell sound above her, letting her know she had precious time left. Emma stamped her heel loudly, as it echoed in the very empty hallway. She began to walk faster, as her green sparklie tank top swayed with her body movements, and she heard the ruffling of her jeans as she almost began to run down the hall to find the class before the final bell rang.
Where the heck is this class? Is it invisible or something!?
Emma started to run, as she grasped tightly onto her schedule in one hand, and her large Dooney and Bourke bag in the other. She looked around helplessly, and felt like a lost child.
"This would happen to me on the first day of school...." Emma mumbled, as she ran around a corner, almost tripping into a trashcan.

Kelsi slipped into the classroom, trying her best to remain invisible. True, she'd seen most of these people at some point over the summer (and in at least one case, reached a point of not being completely terrified of them), but she still felt slightly on edge in school. She didn't know why. Was it that she had a certain social position- namely, that of "weirdly quiet music geek"- to fit into there, something that hadn't been as prominent at Lava Springs? Whatever it was, she was just glad that this would be her last year at East High.
Kelsi slid into a seat in the middle of the classroom- not far enough forward to make her look like a teacher's pet, yet not far enough back to make her look like a slacker. She smiled awkwardly at some of her friends and acquaintances, then pulled out the schedule that she'd looked over a thousand times. AP Music Theory, Dramatic Literature, AP French...and some other stuff that didn't count as much. All the cool classes were right there, oh yeah.
