Oh, Lizzie loved parties to death. They were always so bright and cheerful and made her want to smile until her cheeks hurt, not that she didn’t do that already. And people constantly said that senior parties were the best; one hosted by East High’s legendary Troy Bolton must be nothing short of spectacular. She clapped her hands together at the thought as her father pulled up in front of the Bolton residence.
“Love you, Daddy,” she said, planting a kiss on his cheek before departing barefoot into cold air. Cold air, emphasis on that, she thought with a pout as she rubbed her hands over her bare arms. She slipped on one of her shoes as she hobbled up the steps where there was already someone else waiting.
Midway up, the door opened to reveal a blonde greeting the girl, who in the light she was able to recognize as the piano chick. “Shoot,” she muttered to herself but added more loudly, “Wait for me you guys!” Once at the top, she unceremoniously grabbed a hold of Kelsi’s right shoulder to steady herself and put on her other shoe.
“Thanks!” she told her brightly, once fully appareled. “Kelsi, right? The one dating Jason? How lovely!” Without waiting for a reply, or to take a breath, she turned to the blonde at the door and added in hurried stream of words, “Do I smell brownies? I love brownies. I was thinking about bringing cookies, the ones with chocolate chips and walnuts because those are my absolute favorite, but then Daddy said that lots of people might be allergic to nuts, so I opted against it. Maybe I should have just baked sugar cookies. Everyone loves those. But I wouldn’t want to be outdone by Zeke. Is he here? Ooh, love the streamers.”

Jason smiled as Kennah hugged Gabriella. He was already looking at her adoringly, as if she was his girlfriend. Girlfriend?...woah...that sounds kinda....nice Jason looked over the table and his eyes brightened at the sight of his favorite dessert....cupcakes. He quickly and shlyly moved to the other side of the table and grabbed one, taking a bit out of the soft bread.
He sighed and smiled as he took another bite and ended up getting frosting on the tip of his nose in his excitement.

"Hi, Emma," Kelsi replied, smiling back. She looked down at her outfit- nothing too spectacular, she'd thought, but a nice party outfit. "Thanks for the compliment. I'm not really a fashionista or anyth-"
Suddenly, she felt someone grab her shoulder, almost knocking her off-balance. She turned around to see a red-headed girl putting on her shoe. Couldn't you have done that in the car? she thought, slightly annoyed. The girl was vaguely familiar- Emily? Erica? Something that started with an E, she knew. Then what the E girl had said to her registered.
"Yeah, hi," she said. "Um, I'm not dating Jason, though. We haven't even gone out on a date or anything." But oh, how I'd like to- shut up! Shut up! She hoped that the color rising in her cheeks could simply be attributed to the cold air, and nothing else.

Emma smiled as Kelsi talked about her outfit, when she was suddenly interrupted by a new girl. Emma had only seen this girl a few times. She barely knew who she was, but the girl was talking to Kelsi and her as if she knew them. Emma nodded and smiled as the girl rambled on about some nonsense with cookies and brownies. Emma raised her eyebrows as the girl mentioned Zeke. Emma's cheeks began to flush a little pink, and her lips pursed together.
She eyed this girl up and down carefully. Who was this new girl? And why was she asking about her boyfriend? Emma didn't really know how to react to this girl. She just raised an eyebrow at her, and smirked slightly.
"Yeah, Zeke, my boyfriend, is here." Emma said, placing a hand on her hip.

Lizzie frowned. Not going out? She could have sworn…
“Ah well, my bad,” she giggled. “You are so compatible though, I think. Not that it’s any of my business, which I guess I isn’t. But, oh well.” She finished with a toothy grin, reflecting on the fact that East High really needed a matchmaker. How fun that would be.
She turned back to the blonde as she started speaking too, about Zeke apparently. Had she asked about him? Sometimes it was dreadfully hard to keep track of what came out of her mouth when she prattled, and she was still trying to figure out the blonde’s name, which was made infinitely easier at the end by the her stance. Such a Sharpay position – obviously a Sharpette, though Lizzie could never entirely tell them apart.
“Dating? Congrats! Glad to hear he’s finally over Sharpay,” she replied cheerfully, not realizing what may have still been a touchy subject. “Should we go in? I’m freezing to death.”

Emma gave her a fake smile, as she held the door open for the two girls to enter. Emma still felt uncomfortable about this girl, and she didn't even know who she was. She glared at the girl as she mentioned Sharpay. Emma hated remembering that Zeke was completely gaga over Sharpay before they got together. This girl obviously knew a lot about them, but it seemed maybe not too many of them knew much about her.
"I'm sorry, what did you say your name was?" Emma asked, feigning interest, with a slight smirk on her face.
Emma didn't know if she didn't trust this girl because of her bubbly, outgoing personality, or because she seemed to say things that upset her, or because Emma just didn't know her. Whatever it was, Emma knew she was going to be careful with this girl. She had to be sure to warn Zeke too.

Taylor sauntered up the pathway to Troy's house, holding some bottles of drinks in a plastic bag. She knew Troy had prepared everything and she didn't need to bring anything at all. But she brought some anyway, just in case there weren't enough drinks to pass around for everyone.
As Taylor reached the Bolton's house, she could see that the door was opened and a few girls were chatting right there. "Hi Kelsi! Hi girls." She greeted her friends the moment she caught up with them. There was another new girl whom she had never met before, and she just nodded slightly at her.
"Thanks Emma." She gave a small smile to Emma for helping to hold the door. Taylor never really knew Emma, but she did talk to her on a few occasion. She seemed like a pretty nice person.

Lizzie returned the girl’s smile with one of her own. People here are so friendly, she thought to herself, her smile widening slightly.
“Lizzie,” she replied to the question, pondering whether or not to shake her hand. “Is that old fashioned?” she wondered out loud, more for her own benefit than anything else. Not expecting or waiting for an answer, she went on, “I think I was in your homeroom class last year. Ms. Darbus right? And I wrote for the school newspaper, but it’s not like anyone reads that. Although Ms. Darbus might have. I’m not entirely sure. Maybe I should ask her sometime if she still remembers me. And… oh, I’m being rude. I think I must have missed your name too.”
As she finished, a fourth girl joined their group. AcDec person, she reminded herself with a slight sigh, oh why did names have to be so hard? “Hey,” she greeted. “What’d you bring?”

Emma smiled as she saw Taylor coming up to the front door. She had talked to Taylor for a bit, and she was a nice person, so Emma was always nice to her. She gladly held the door open for Taylor to enter the party. She saw she was holding something, and she wondered if maybe she should have brought something, or at least asked Zeke to bake something for the two of them to bring together.
"Your welcome, Taylor." Emma smiled. "Oh, what did you bring? Anything good?" Emma asked, trying to look in the bag. "Did you want some help bringing those in?" Emma held her arms out to take some of the drinks from Taylor. She then glanced back at the new girl, giving her another up and down look.
"Emma." Emma replied. "And I don't think we've met. I just transfered to East High this year." Emma paused. "I'm friends with Sharpay." Emma added, just to clarify that even though she was new, she was in the "in" group of East High.

Emma, Emma, she repeated to herself. Like Emma Woodhouse? And matchmaker? Yes, that was how she would remember her, Lizzie decided and strained to see over the girl’s shoulder, mind already wandering to the party and who had arrived.
“Do you know what games we’re going to be playing,” she asked to no one in particular. “I used to be in love with Candyland when I was younger, but that’s probably juvenile, right?”
She took another sweep of the room, noticing most of all the table of food. Sweets were her weakness. Lizzie could eat like than no other, almost as much as she talked. And the studious girl who just shown up, she brought food too. Gosh, this party was fantastic. The blonde… she paused her thoughts and pursed her lips, racking her memory for the name. She couldn’t have forgotten it already. No, Emma. Nevermind, she beamed in self-approval at her realization.

"Some extra drinks just in case there weren't enough." Taylor replied, as Emma helped to take some of the drinks from her. She looked at the new girl when Emma started talking to her. They sounded as though they're not on good terms with each other. Taylor looked at oddly at the new girl before turning back to Emma. "I guess I'll go help out the others." She said and entered the kitchen.
"Hi you this inseparable lover." Taylor jokingly greeted Troy and Gabriella when she saw them in the kitchen. She put the drinks on the counter, and paused, looking at the couple with a bemused expression. "I think I'll leave you two alone." Taylor remarked, laughing lightly and returning to the living room where the others are.

Emma stood there listening to Lizzie talk about wanting to play Candyland. She couldn't believe her ears. This was a senior party, not a 5th grader's birthday celebration at Chuck E. Cheese. Emma looked at her like she was crazy.
Is she for real?
"I'm not sure what we're going to play. I'll have to ask Gabriella or Troy." Emma took this as her cue to follow Taylor into the kitchen with the drinks she was holding. She set the drinks on the counter, still not able to believe Lizzie. She stayed and watched the interaction between Gabriella, Troy and Taylor. After Taylor left, Emma turned to Troy and Gabriella.
"There's this really annoying girl out there who wants to know what games we're playing. If you see her, please tell me, so I can steer clear of her." Emma said with a flick of her wrist. She turned around, flipping her hair over her shoulder and went off to find Zeke.

Gabriella hugged Kennah back as she replied, "I know! I'm pretty sure this is going to be a blast." She grinned at Kennah and quickly added, "But first I gotta help Troy with everything. See you later!"
Gabriella went back into the house when she finally saw Troy. Sigh. That look on Troy's face, the relieved look-when-he-finally found-what-he-was-looking-for kind of face, it never failed to work its charm on her.
"Thanks so much. C'mon, I'll help you put 'em in the kitchen."
"Sure, it was nothing", she replied meekly as she smiled, his arm wrapped around her as they walked into the kitchen.
She stood with Troy in the kitchen when she bumped into Emma. "Oh, hey Emma." As Emma ranted on about someone asking what games to play and quickly left to join Zeke, Gabriella was dumbfounded. "Oh-kay", she tentatively told herself, eyebrows raised and her lips pouting as she shot Troy a confused glance.

Troy called back to Emma. "Thank you!" As Troy and Gabriella entered the kitchen Gabriella shot him a look. The one that always got to him. How much he wished it didn't. "Uh, what's wrong Gabriella?" He asked as he walked around slamming Jason out of the way. Jason knew not to eat yet. He shot him a certain glare that pointed out to Jason to leave because Gabriella and him were talking. Hopefully he'd get the message. 'Hm... now which one to switch with? The cupcakes that Jason almost ate or the banana cream pie that hadn't been touched except a piece eaten by mom?'. Troy looked back at Gabriella. "Are you OK Gabriella? Something wrong with the food or the party?" He had absolutely no idea.

''Oi!'' Jason exclaimed as Troy slammed into him. He narrowed his eyes at Troy as the other guy glared. Just to spite him, Jason grabbed another cupcake as he left and went back to Kennah. ''Hey you gotta try one of these their amazing,'' he said with a happy grin, frosting sit covering the tip of his nose.
