Hanging [Ryan and Kennah & then Shar]

[Kennah Grace]

Kennah stood on the golf course, swinging her club. Everytime she swng to hit the ball, she missed. "Ugh!" she groaned in frustration, throwing down her club. She just couldn't get it! Why did it have to be so hard?! All the other Wildcats made it look so easy. She slumped down onto the grass and put her chin in her hands, staring out over the course.

She missed competing with Sharpay, even though she liked being friends with her better. And she really missed Ryan. He had been hanging out with Sharpay alot more lately, and Kennah missed him alot. Of course, she still was hopelessly in love with him, but she would never let him know that.

Ryan was walking slowly across the green links of the golf course, he had opted out of bringing his clubs and has just decided to walk around the green, a privilege that only the Evans were allowed without fear of punishment.

Ryan stuffed his hands into his khaki shorts pockets, he whistled happily as he thought back to the night with Sharpay in their spot, not too far from here. He couldn't help but let his mind wander to the future, he was just happy that he had something figured out for once, he didn't know what he wanted to be, but he knew who he wanted to be it with.

Ryan looked up from his stupor when he heard an exasperated yell only to see a club come flying past his head, he had barely anytime to duck the blow. "Umm, hey Kennah," He said laughing slightly when he saw the Kennah Grace slumped down on the grass.

Kennah heard a voice behind her and her head shot up to see Ryan. "Oh..um..hey." she said, jumping up and putting on a smile. She hoped he couldn't see her blushing. "What are you doing out here..alone?" she asked him, brushing off her shorts.

Kennah was supposed to be in the kitchens, helping the Wildcats, but she didn't worry. She knew Ryan wouldn't tell. Her mind started to wander to other things, like how perfect he was. She shook her head to clear her mind of such thoughts, blushing again.

Ryan walked over to her laughing and sat down beside her on the grass. "I came out here to think, it's normally peaceful here, except for the occassional flying nine iron." He added with a laugh looking over at her. He looked at his watch for a moment, he would be able to see Sharpay soon, a goofy grin plastered onto his face, but he shook it off quickly knowing it must have looked weird he was eyeing his watch lovingly.

He cleared his throat. "But what brings you out here?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her in confusion.

Kennah watched as Ryan stared at his watch, as if waiting to get away. She snapped out of her thoughts as he spoke to her again. "Oh, I'm on my break." she replied, pointing back to the kitchens. "I've got another half hour or so, I guess. Then, it's back to washing dishes." She sighed and ran her fingers through the grass.

Ryan gave a light nod as he dusted his knees off, small blades of grass collecting on his normally spotless clothing. "Cool, I mean not the dishes part, but down time is good." He said looking over at her, giving her a friendly smile and another obvious nod.

"So what were you doing with the club over there?" He asked nodding back at the long abandoned putter. "You normally perfect your swing by keeping your hands on the club." He said with a laugh, turning to face her.

Kennah laughed, looking over at the clun for herself. "Yeah..well, let's just say I'm not the best golf player here." She stood up and picked up the golf club, standing in position once more. She took a swing and missed again. "See? I'm horrible." she said, sighing.

It was nice talking to Ryan out here. Ever since the baseball game, she hadn't seen much of him. "You wanna try?" she asked, smiling and holding out the club to him.

Ryan looked at the club with a soft smile, he was never much a fan of golf, he just went because it was time to spend with his family. "Nah, that's okay, thanks." He said smiling up at Kennah. "I just came for the atmosphere." He said as he leaned back onto the grass, pushing his hat lower onto his eyes.

He desperately wanted Sharpay to come lie with him, but he knew that wouldn't be possible. He looked off sadly. "It's kinda peaceful, I can't see how people would ruin it with golf." He remarked in a chuckle, his head angled towards Kennah.

Kennah snorted lightly and dropped the club. She walked over and sat down beside Ryan, smiling over at him. "So, how are things with you?" They never got to talk much anymore and Kennah missed that.

Ryan looked over at her, his hand up to shield the sun coming in sidelong into his eyes. "I'm good," He said into a sigh. "Just kind of enjoying.... life." He said into a light yawn. He rolled over onto his side so he was facing her, propped up on his elbow lazily. "But how are things with you, Ms. Kennah Grace?" He asked smiling at her.

Ryan had been friends with Kennah in the past, but times had changed, he had changed. He just let their frienship fall apart overtime, it was the joys of growing up.

Kennah shrugged, smiling up at the sky. "Good, I guess. I mean, I'm working, but it's been fun. I'm with all my friends and I get to see you again. I wish the old days." she said, a bit sadly, thinking back on the past. Her and Ryan had been best friends. Then, one day, it all just seemed to fall apart at the seams.

"What happened to us?" she suddenly asked him, rolling over to face him. "Did you grow tired of me? Or did we just grow apart? I'm sorry, I just need to know." She just wanted to know what had happened. He didn't have to become best friends with her again or anything; she just wanted to know.

Ryan grimaced lightly at her question, only because the answer was never as simple as yes or no, or even repeating one of the options she had given him. It wasn't as simple as reitterating an idea and hoping she'd believe it. "Kennah," He started, shaking his head lightly as he looked down at his shoes. "things changed, we both changed." He mumbled as he removed his hat from his head, running his hand through his hair.

In truth it had become a growing rivalry between Kennah and Sharpay that had lead him to choose sides in a sense, he had been young, and at the time, it just seemed easier to side with family than with friends. He scratched his ear nervously and then looked over at her cautiously. "We could try and be friends again, you know." He offered slowly. "I'm different than I was when we were younger, I think..." He broke of lightly trying to figure out how to word it. "You can never have too many friends." He stated firmly.

Kennah felt herself light up inside and she grinned, throwing her arms around Ryan. "I'd love to be friends again!" she exclaimed. She had missed him so much and now they could be friends again. She smiled, feeling happier than she had in a long time.
