Gabriella looked around, turning her head from left to right just to make sure. Lava Springs was pretty quiet this afternoon. Once she decided the coast was clear, she nimbly walked up the steps of the stage, the same stage where they'd performed just a few days ago.
She wanted to do everything possible, to express herself. Sure she may have done it a lot of times with Troy and the gang, but this time she was alone. This was it. She could do whatever she wanted to. Her world right now was the stage. She stood in the middle, her hands held loosely. She breathed in, trying to get much air as she could from her diaphragm.
"Na na na na, na na na na, yeah..." She sang with all the air she had gathered from her stomach, and sang with all the emotions she had in her heart that marked the summer, and burst out of her, letting her feel much lighter.
"You are the music in me.."

Gabriella was surprised at Lea's sudden appearance, she almost fell off the stage. Good thing she was able to balance herself.
"Uh, th-thanks, Lea", Gabriella said shyly. "I wanna hear you sing too".

Kelsi was walking past the stage on her way to the dining area when she heard Lea start to sing. Not bad, she thought, unable to remain objective after spending so much time around East High's choir. She'd only ever heard Lea sing as part of Sharpay's back-up group, but she actually had a nice solo voice. It didn't hurt, either, that Kelsi had been raised on Disney and "Go the Distance" was one of her favorite songs ever.
"Nice, Lea!" she said, approaching Lea and Gabriella. "I love that song."

"'Go the Distance'," Kelsi replied. She'd thought it would have been evident, but really, who knew with the Sharpettes? "It's so pretty. And you have a really nice voice. I mean, if you don't mind my saying so." Some people could be awfully embarrassed at receiving praise. Kelsi was one of them.

"It's a nice song," Kelsi said. Suddenly, she thought of something. "You know, it kind of sucks that you, Emma, and Jackie never get to sing on your own. Do you guys really like singing backup for Sharpay?"
