Kelsi sat at the piano, playing through a brand-new song that she'd written just the previous night. She'd nearly decided on the plot for her next musical; it was either going to be an adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream or another original musical, this one about real high school experience (or at least her real high school experiences). Whichever one she used, the new song fit.

"Do you even really love me?" she sang out, her voice reverberating through the room. "Or is this just a game?" She wasn't necessarily a good singer, hence why she preferred to accompany the choir instead of singing in it. Still, she could carry a tune well enough to passably sing her own songs, and her voice could be heard out the open door and down the hallway.

[Sharpay Evans]

Sharpay was walking along the hallway, not noticing the odd looks the Lava Springs staff were giving her. But you couldn't blame them. If you know Sharpay Evans, and sees her like this, you'd probably give her the same look.

There was something in her walk, something different. It was a little bit bouncy. But her face is the most noticeable of all. She exudes an aura of...happiness. Not of the fake happiness that she used to show, but real happiness.

She stopped when she heard music coming from her and Ryan's Rehearsal room. She slowly peeked on the door and smiled as she heard Kelsi singing. She went inside and approached the composer.

"Hey, Kelsi. Nice song!" She greeted and complimented sincerely.

Kelsi jumped at the sound of Sharpay's voice, creating a discordant noise with the piano. "Uh, thanks, Sharpay," she said, unsure.

Could it be? Did East High's ice queen actually look...happy? And not like "I love it when an evil scheme to win the lead role in the musical comes together" happy, but normal happy. In all the years that Kelsi had known Sharpay, she'd only seen her like this a couple of times, and never since they'd entered high school. It was weird.

"You certainly seem to be in a good mood today," she offered, not knowing what else to say.

If that was the old Sharpay, she would have answered with a sarcastic remark. But since this is somewhat a new Sharpay, the new Sharpay that someone had managed to create to replace the old one, even if she wanted to still be the "ice queen" or the "mountain lion", she just couldn't help but feel happy and show it.

"Yeah, must be the weather." She replied non-chalantly, still smiling. "So what's cooking?" She asked her, looking at the song sheets.

Kelsi didn't know what was up with this new Sharpay, but it was kind of awesome. It was nice to be able to talk to Sharpay without being terrified of some acerbic remark- not that she'd been terrified since Twinkle Towne, but still. This was the kind of Sharpay she could really get along with.

"I've been working on my next musical," she replied, with a tiny smile. "I haven't quite finalized the plot yet, but I just finished one of the songs, the one I was just singing. Want to see?" She indicated the sheet music.

"Really? That's awesome!" Sharpay replied excitedly. She clapped her hands as she waited for Kelsi to play the song. Part of her mind though is still with the person responsible for making her pleasant like this.

Where could he be? She asked in her head, hoping that she will receive an answer through their twin telepathy thing, if they really have that kind of power.

[Gabriella Montez]

"Hey Sharpay, Kelsi!" Gabriella greeted happily, as she skipped towards the two.

"Now Kelsi, did I hear you singing?" Gabriella smiled at Kelsi. And you, Sharpay, seem to be in a really cheerful mood today", she added, grinning at Sharpay, as if to say, "It's not like I don't know why you're happy". She got the music sheet on the piano and looked at it.

"This looks great, Kelsi! What is this for?"

Sharpay looked at Gabriella warningly for a second to remind her to keep it on the down-low, before smiling and giggling as if to say "I know!".

She shook her head and shushed Gabriella. "She's about to play the song." She said, smiling.

It was then that she realized that it felt wonderful to have real friends like this. Now she understood why Ryan was happy to become "one of them".

[Gabriella Montez]

Gabriella smiled as she sang along to the words with gusto.

"Please don't tell me you're fooling around, for I don't want to be hurt again."

Kelsi grinned. Gabriella was consistently an awesome singer. But why were she and Sharpay suddenly so cheerful towards one another? She certainly wasn't complaining, but it was interesting. And cool. Definitely cool.

"It's from my next musical," she answered. "The girl basically thinks that the guy she likes is just messing around and doesn't really love her. I haven't quite decided on a plot, so I'm trying to keep it pretty vague, but that works with either of the plots I have in mind." She started to play the song. "I'm actually really pleased with it, for something that I just finished last night."

[Gabriella Montez]

"That's amazing! You truly are talented", Gabriella smiled. "So, why don't we sing it to the limit then?"

[Sharpay Evans]

"That's inspired, Kelsi!" Sharpay commented, nodding at the composer. "You really have improved a lot." She said, smiling at the girl.

"And yes, Gabriella, you're an awesome singer as well." She patted Gabriella on the back, smiling. Sharpay was never the one to shower compliments to anyone other than herself, so this probably will shock everyone who knew her.

[Gabriella Montez]

"Aww, thanks Shar, but I won't be as good as you,at least, not right now", Gabriella remarked.

"Wait Shar, Kelsi inspired? By whom?" Gabriella inquired, with a playful smile on her face.

[Sharpay Evans]

"It's just an expression, Gabriella." Sharpay pointed out, giggling. "Ask Troy, he knows. He had heard that a lot from me." She said, grinning.

"Well, with just a little more practice, I'm sure you're gonna do great. Heck, you even sang 'Everyday' perfectly without practice!" She waved a hand in the air as she said these words.

(I was lipsynching! Duh! No, really, I'm kidding. )

"Aww, well, not really, I practiced the night before-oops, I wasn't supposed to tell you that", Gabriella blurted. "Aanyway, it's not much of a big deal, right?"
