Benji was early.
What else did she have to do other then sing, play on the comuter, or write?
In anycase, she was alone in the Rehearsal room. Kelsi must have tripped in the hallway again. That girl was almost as bad as here when it came to Karma.
Oh well. Benji got her things out and ready for their practice. She needed to work on a few of her songs, and Kelsi was much better at the piano then she was, so the obvious thing to do was work with her. She was currently working on a lullaby, and something just... wasn't working. In the tune at least. The word were right... but...
It was bugging her.
She put out their music sheets and sat down at the piano to try her hand at her tune.

Kelsi sped into the rehearsal room, practically dropping her sheet music in her haste. "Sorry!" she squeaked. "I got held up leaving the kitchen, and then I almost fell in the pool because I was trying to avoid the Sharpettes..." She wasn't late, but she felt like she was since Benji had gotten there first.
She placed her music on the piano. "So. Let's do this." She'd opened up a lot since the winter "musicale," but Benji was still one of the few people she could just act silly around. Speaking her mind around Troy and Gabriella? Yes. Singing highlights from Wicked around them? Not quite yet.
But whatever. It was rehearsal time.

Benji would have jumped in surprise at Kelsi...
But she cold hear here coming down the hall. Noisy girl. She always teased her about it. But that was just because they were friends. She watched her as she sat down next to her, the sheets now on the music stand. "I'd avoid them too." She said laughing, and pulling her long hair back.
"Yeah! I actualy need to work on the lullabye. Somethings not write with the way it flows. The words... I think are right. They have what I want, at least, but... well. You might be able to figure it out. Can we start on that piece first?"
Benji did have to give it to her, though. Kelsi had opened up alot more since the musical. Now they could walk down the halls singing show tunes at random moments. I guess it fit them. To her, it was like always being in a concert. To Kelsi, she was sure, it was like life was a giant musical. And she couldn't dislike her for that. Who doesn't love Popular or La vie?
Benji stood up and walked infront of the piano. "Go through it once? Stop me if you hear it, the thing thats wrong. I can't finger it..."

"Sure," Kelsi replied, starting to play the song. Benji was a really good composer; it was a shame she wouldn't help with the musicals. If Benji and Kelsi collaborated on a musical, they could probably get it done in half the time- one year, instead of two. Dreams the way we planned 'em, if we work in tandem...
Benji's song was lovely, certainly. She was right, though, it was missing a certain something. Kelsi couldn't say what, though. She waited for Benji to start singing. Maybe that would make it clearer.

Breath.
"As I lay here, 'Neath the moonless sky. I think of what has been. Of Fairy tales, and dragon scales, and cries of the wolven. Oh, how long ago it was, When we thought everything was true..."
She sang along with the piano. She heard the 'problem', but... still couldn't place it. She knew it was just before the chorus, she could tell that much. Did Kelsi hear it too? From the look on her face, she suspected so.
"... I'll tell you a secret, All of them are true."
She paused as the last notes rang out.
"You heard it?" She said finaly.

"Yeah." Kelsi frowned. "But it's kind of hard to explain. There's sort of a... disconnect?- I think that's what it's called- between the lyrics and the music. I think it needs to be slower. Like, more fairy tale-ish. Does that make sense?" She waited anxiously for Benji's reply.

"Try it, then. Slow the tempo, I'll sing it, see if it works better."
Benjilynn moved closer to the piano. "And add like an extra beat durring the cross over. That might smooth it over." She said. "I think its just how much I change tempo in the song. It needs to have a single temp, I'm making your fingers work to hard." Benji gave a face that could only be discribed as 'XD'.

The XD face! Kelsi grinned in return. "Yes, appease my poor lazy fingers," she laughed. "But seriously, I do think it might work better with one tempo. Or just with having it speed up when we get to the chorus..." She started to play it again, this time much slower. "Does that sound better?"

Benji tapped her foot to the beat. Silently mouthing the words, she walked around the piano to stand next to Kelsi.
Yes... It was sounding better. She let her voice pick up at the chorus slightly.
"There is a mellody, inside of everything, its whispers magic. And even though, we grow old, It will never fade.
We will live inside, a False Reality.
And They'll tell us, none of it is real.
But promise me, you'll never stop singing. But promise me, you'll never stop seeing. But promise me, you'll never stop believing;
In our secret reality..."
She paused for the small interlude, it slowed the pace again. She took another breath, her voice back to the whisper. I'll tell you a secret, All of them are true.
Benji broke into a smile. "That was it! It fixed the gap. I think it'll be a little long moving slower, so... Lets drop the next chorus. I think it will be more effective that way."
