Start of Something New? {Kelsi}

After what Sharpay had told him about Kelsi maybe liking him he just had to ask her out....or at least talk to her. He went to the first place he could think of and prayed she'd be in there. He slowly and carefully strolled his way to the Rehearsal room from the locker room, after freshening up a bit and spraying on some body spray, in an attempt to make himself smell nice.

The door was closed when he got to the room but he could hear the tinkling of piano keys and a soft melody draft through the doors. He stayed there for a few minutes to make sure no one was practicing, and to just listen to the music, before he slowly cracked open the door and stuck his head in. He walked in the room and softly closed the door behind him so he wouldnt disturb the pianist and waited for her to notice him.

"You're a harmony, to the melody- Oh hey Jason!" Kelsi tried to hide her absolute and abject embarrassment at being caught singing along to her own song. Singing quite badly, at that. She'd had a little bit of a crush on Jason since the basketball championship, and this was just... ugh. She could feel her cheeks getting pinker.

"So what are you doing here?" she managed to squeak out. "I haven't seen Troy, Chad, or Zeke yet today, but I'm sure they're around."

Jason felt a rush of pride as he saw Kelsi's cheeks blush because of him. Maybe Sharpay was right. ''Hey Kelsi,'' he said giving her a small wave as he strolled closer to her and the piano. He was glad he hadnt interupted her and let her sing, she sang beautifully. No she wasnt as good as Gabi or Sharpay but she wasnt half bad. Ill have to secretly watch her sing more often

''Oh...um...well...Im here to see...you,'' he managed to say as he clapsed his hands behind his back so he wouldnt fidget with them infront of her.

"Oh," Kelsi replied stupidly. Her mind was racing. Jason had been looking for her? Sure, they'd hung out after the championship game and the talent show, but she'd assumed that he'd mostly been hanging out with Troy and the other guys from the team. Could he have been there for her?

But then again, he could just want help with something. She flashed him a slightly nervous smile. "What's up?"

''Oh uhh I was wondering if you...um well if you might want to....dude just say it!!.....if you might want to..hang out sometime?'' he asked nervously. He inwardly cringed when he said 'hang out instead of 'go out' but at least he got his point across.

Say yes, say yes, say yes

Maybe a date- sort of a date- how utterly awesome is this? Kelsi wasn't able to keep the smile off her face. "Sure!" she managed to reply. "When did you want to...um, hang out? And where?"

She couldn't deny that she was excited. It was Jason, after all. Kelsi was only a music geek; why had he asked her out? Whatever the reason, she certainly wasn't complaining.

Jason was suprised that she had said yes and a happy grin started covering his face. ''Great that's awesome,'' he said with a smile. ''Oh umm how about the pool? When we both get off work we can go for a swim. That cool?''

"Sounds cool." Kelsi smiled back, ignoring the little voice inside her head screaming that the pool was off-limits to employees, and to remember what happened to Troy and Gabriella. Who cared, really? She didn't have any marks on her record yet, and besides, she hadn't seen Mr. Fulton around much lately. Who knew? Maybe he'd lightened up like Sharpay.

Sure, that was about as likely as Ryan deciding that nah, he didn't really like hats all that much. But Kelsi had hope.

''Great that's awesome,'' Jason said with a happy grin as he clapped his hands together and started rubbing them as he thought of something to say. ''Oh umm what was that song you were playing when I came in?'' he asked. He didnt think he had heard that song before and it sounded beautiful when Kelsi sang it, maybe she'd play it for him again.

One can only hope

"It's called 'You Are the Music In Me'," Kelsi said. "I wrote it for Troy and Gabriella to perform in the talent show, but they ended up singing 'Everyday'. So basically the most public place it's been performed is the lobby here at Lava Springs." Shutupshutupshutup, Kelsi, before you make even more of a fool of yourself. Feeling she'd spoken too much, she started to sing, accompanying herself on the piano. "You know the words once upon a time...makes you listen, there's a reason..."

Jason just stood where he was and smiled as he listened to Kelsi talk, keeping his hands in his pockets so he wouldnt fidget with them. He walked even closer so he could see her fingers run over the white keys of the piano.

"And when you dream, there's a chance you'll find... a little laughter, or happy ever after..." She giggled nervously. "It's really written more for Gabriella's voice. There's a reason why I'm a composer, not a performer... I mean, besides the fact that Sharpay hates competition." God, she was just embarrassing herself more and more.

"I think you did a great job,'' Jay said comfortingly as he gently pat her shoulder. "So did you write this for Troy and Gabriella?''
