Katherine awoke suddenly, and started to sit up when she felt her head pounding. She quickly laid back down, and put her hand on her forehead. She looked around her master bedroom, but she didn't see Vance anywhere. She looked over towards the enormous windows that held a view of the resort, and the large red mountains behind it. The sunlight hurt her eyes, so she rolled back over. The room held paintings and sculptures from many different countries that Katherine and Vance had collected on their many trips. A large bookcase held many books, and a desk in the corner held all the paperwork and proper documents the Evans needed for their work, along with a few letters that Katherine needed to finish.
"Oh god...." Katherine groaned out loud to the room. "How much did I have to drink last night?"
Katherine tried to remember, but honestly, she could barely remember anything that happened last night.
"You drank way more than you should have, darling." Vance said, as he entered the bedroom from the large connecting bathroom. He smiled at Katherine as he laid down next to her in the large, luxurious king sized bed.
Katherine smiled. "Obviously! What happened last night?"
"Family dinner. You made it one we shall never forget."
"Oh god. What did I do?"
Vance laughed slightly remembering the family dinner. "Well at one point you were on the chair, escaping from a non-existent mouse, then you also yelled across the dining hall a few times, and you offered wine to Sharpay and Ryan."
Katherine laughed slightly. "Wow. I feel so accomplished. And I can't believe I offered them wine. Did they drink it?"
"Not that I could tell, but maybe they downed it after I got you out of there." Vance shrugged. He honestly hoped they didn't drink it. He would rather be around if his children were going to drink, so he could supervise.
Vance thought more about the dinner and remembered something he wanted to discuss.
"Katherine, did you notice any strange behavior from the children last night?" Vance asked, rolling onto his side, and looking at his wife.
"You're asking the hung over one if they remember?" she jested. "I'm not sure. What do you mean by 'strange behavior?'"
"I'm not even sure myself. They kept smiling, and squirming in their seats, and Sharpay squealed at least twice if not more. It just seemed like the kids were really anxious, really nervous, or just completely out of their minds." Vance replied.
Katherine recalled a little now that Vance reminded her. "Yes, I do remember some. And somehow it seems the children always leave and arrive around the same time. And it seems as if when I can't find one, the other is missing too. I don't know if it's just coincidence, or something is going on."
"I thought it was love." Vance laughed. "I thought maybe Sharpay had a crush on some guy at the resort, and Ryan had a crush on a girl from school or something, but the signs don't point to that. It's something else, and I can't put my finger on it."
Katherine shrugged. "I have no idea, darling. Honestly the twins have always done things that I consider strange, but I don't worry about it."
"No you just get drunk, and then you can't worry about it." Vance smirked.
Katherine glared at him. "You love taking care of me when I'm drunk."
"I sure do." Vance joked. "And if I were you, I'd remember to brush up on our children's names. I think you forgot Sharpay's name last night. She seemed a little upset about it."
"I forgot her name?" Katherine questioned.
"Yes. The manager of the dining hall told me this morning when I went down for breakfast. So, you might want to keep that in mind next time you drink, dear. And let's hope that you won't get that drunk again, or at least not in front of the children." Vance laughed.
"Well, let's go out for a round of golf, shall we? The fresh air will help with the hangover, dear." Vance stood up, and went to his vast closet to pick out a perfect outfit for golf.
"Yes, that would be good." Katherine slowly got up, and made her way over to her enormous closet. "Maybe we could stop and get me some juice and some toast before though."
Vance laughed. "Of course."
The Evans both changed quickly, and Vance put an arm around Katherine's waist, and the two exited the bedroom.
