Katherine smiled at her son, adoringly. She clasped her hand not holding the mug, over her mouth slightly. She heard a distant giggle from Sharpay and smiled at the wonderful laughter of her daughter.
"How wonderful. My son, the romantic." Katherine sighed, thinking back to when her and Vance started going out and how romantic it used to be in those days of first dating.
"Well, I hope that when you write it out, you'll let me read it before it gets published, and you are whisked away for book signings, and living the good life off in New York City away from your father and me." Katherine asked, really hoping that Ryan wouldn't reject her request to read his book. She was his biggest fan, and she wanted him to know that. She would always support Ryan, even if he was off in New York, or wherever his travels took him. Katherine suddenly felt a pang of sadness in realizing that this time next year, Ryan and Sharpay would probably be gone, either at college, or starting their careers on Broadway or for Ryan, as a writer. They probably will have forgotten all about her and Vance.
Katherine knew she was hardly around for the children when she should have been in the past. But it seemed time was moving too fast now, and she couldn't go back and change when she wasn't there. Now, it seems as if the tables were turning, and just as she left them, they were going to be leaving her. She quickly masked it with a smile, but the sadness stayed in her eyes.

Ryan gave his mother a quick nod. "Of course mom, you'll be one of the first people to read it." He smiled at her happily. It was true that she was third in-line to read it, but that would suffice. He gave a light smile, he'd been toying around with the idea of putting his newfound romance down on paper, just so they'd never forget a moment of it.
Ryan gave a light chuckle to his mom, but couldn't help but notice the face she had made, he knew that this next year was going to be hard on her; not one, but two children leaving. "I'll probably only spend my time in New York when Shar and I are starring on the stages of Broadway," He smiled at his mom jovially, joking with her lightly. "I think if I was going to write, I'd want to do it somewhere like Hawaii." He added, placing his hands on his hips, putting on a show that he had just decided this.
He smirked lightly, knowing that Sharpay could hear his every word, and she was reading the lines how he meant them to be said.

Sharpay grinned like she never did before, thinking about next year's summer vacation...the first time ever that they won't be staying in Lava Springs. She couldn't deny that she is feeling kind of sad of leaving their parents on summer vacation. It would be their first summer without them around.
But she quickly shook away the sad feeling, concentrating on the Hawaii thing. They could finally be alone, and without anyone knowing that they're siblings. They could kiss and snuggle all they want, whenever, wherever. That would be the perfect summer get-away. She sighed happily at the thought.

Katherine smiled. "Hawaii? My, my, what a romantic setting to be writing. I'm sure it will inspire in many ways though! The beautiful blue skies, the warm sparkling ocean, the soft sand underneath your feet. It seems like the perfect place!"
Katherine thought about the last time she was in Hawaii. It wasn't actually long ago. Vance surprised her on a vacation there. They just up and left, and once upon arriving, they called Ryan and Sharpay telling them they were gone for a few days. Katherine honestly felt that she and Vance did that a lot. It seemed that they still acted like teenagers, running off without really telling their own children they were gone, until they actually left. Katherine seemed to understood why Ryan and Sharpay head off to do their own thing, they just follow in their parents' footsteps. They always are rehearsing, or having parties, or just off running around...just like Vance and Katherine.
"Well darling, I'm sure you will enjoy Hawaii if you do end up there. I just think your sister will probably miss you if you run off and leave her in New York on the stages of Broadway. And of course, you will be missed by me and your father." Katherine added in there, to make sure Ryan really did know he is going to be missed, especially by her.

Ryan smiled at his mom happily, trying to keep down the laugh that threated to choke him, she was so happily oblivious to the sweet corruption under her own nose. "I don't know if I could be away from home too long." His grin got larger on his face as he tried to hide the light blush. "Especially from Shar." He added suddenly, putting on the show of a younger brother missing his sister.
He looked at his mom and smiled, wanting to leave to get to his room, or maybe at this point he would even trade for her room, just so they could be together. Please come drag me away, say we have to rehearse. He pleaded his feet jostling with impatience, he couldn't keep up the facade of blushing and giggling for arbitrary reasons anymore.

Sharpay couldn't help but giggle as well as she listened to Ryan's innocent answer to their mom. If only their mom would take some time to notice, it wouldn't be this easy. She shook her head, as she tried to keep the giggling to a minimum.
When she heard his cry for help, she quickly thought of some excuse on how to drag him away from there. Her eyes scanned around her room, she found her answer as they rested on her radio. She turned the player on, and the salsa sound of Bop to the Top boomed from her room. Of all the music in their rehearsal CD, it had to be Bop to the Top.
"RYAN! Where are you? We need to rehearse!!!" She called, with that same bossy attitude her parents knew so well, from inside her room, biting on her lip to keep from laughing.

Ryan smacked his forehead for added effect as he gave his mom an apologetic smile, cringing lightly as he tried to pretend that Sharpay was going to hand him the abuse of his life. "Sorry, sis." He shouted as he ran down the hall to her room, pulling open the door quickly and shutting it gingerly behind him.
He caught site of her by her stereo, biting her lip, trying to fight off a laugh. They were the best of spies, the masters of deception. "Thank you, so much." He said as he walked over to her and pulled her into a grateful hug.

Sharpay returned the hug, breathing in his scent that she had missed so much. "Anything for you." She said, giggling. She remembered saying those words to Troy, but now it was more heartfelt when it was for Ryan. "So we're really going to Hawaii, huh?" She asked him, lifting her head gently so her eyes would meet his. Her own pair of browns shone in excitement.
"Are you sure you'd be able to write a novel in Hawaii?" She asked him, her eyebrows raised suggestively, a smirk forming on the corners of her lips. "In the beautiful island of Hawaii, with a beautiful girl on your side..." she giggled as her fingers trailed up his arms.

Ryan embraced Sharpay tighter in his arms, his arms slung slow around her waist as he swayed with her playfully, a light smile tugging on his lips. "Well," He started slowly as he looked off smiling at the thought of them in Hawaii together. "I will need things to put in my grand romance novel." He returned his gaze to hers as he gave her a soft wink, wiggling his eyebrows lightly.
He looked down at her even softer, a hint of suggestion in his voice, not too much though. "Plus, who said I'd be writing the whole time." He chuckled out. "I want to see us out on that beach together, I might even tan for you." He admitted suddenly, he would hide his abbhorence to the sun, just to be with her.

Sharpay snuggled closer to him, smiling the whole time as she pictured both of them in Hawaii...it is just a year away from now. "Of course, we'll stroll along the shores every day, and I swear when we come back, we'll both be equally tanned." She said, giggling. "Let them wonder."
She rested her hands on his shoulders, as she looked up to meet his eyes. "So, what are we going to rehearse?" She asked slyly, as she brought her hands to the back of his head, making him lean in closer to her, smirking lightly. Knowing their mom, she won't want to interrupt her kids while they were rehearsing their latest masterpiece, so she had no worries for now.

Ryan let his mind linger on the thought of their Hawaiian vacation, there they could pretend to be something else, no one there would have to know they were related, they could just be that happy young couple who spent their days lazing on the beach. He couldn't help but smile again as he thought of all the fun they could have out in the open there that they had to hide here.
"Rehearse, hmmm." He said questioningly as he brought his hand to his chin, stroking ever so slightly, a glint of mischief glinting over his calm eyes. "I think I can think of a few things." He said softly as he leaned in to capture her lips in his, kissing her for the first time in what felt like days.

Sharpay smiled into the kiss, that was what she had been waiting for ever since she saw him walking down that hallway, before their mom had caught him. She wrapped her arms tighter around him, kissing him back gladly. She stood on her tiptoes just so she can press her lips more to his, that's how much she missed him.
Suddenly, she broke the kiss when she remembered something. "Did you lock the door?" She asked him a little bit breathlessly, taking glances towards the pink door and the golden knob behind him.

Ryan broke away slightly defeated, he had slipped up, he had forgotten to lock the door. He sighed out lightly as he slumped back to the lock, engaging it slowly with a wink. "I'm so glad that we have locks." He said softly as he strode back to her, his lips connecting to hers again.
He wrapped his arms around her waist again, kissing her happily, it was a much more daring escapade now that their parents were mere feet away from them, it showed how highly their parents thought of them. Would they still be so trusting when the twins went off to prom with no proper dates.

Sharpay let out a happy sigh just before their lips connected once again. She was laughing inwardly at the thought of their parents being just a few feet away, supporting their kids all the way. If they had known what they were rehearsing right now...she shut her mind off that thought, shuddering slightly.
Instinctively, she led him towards her bed, flopping down on it when she felt the back of her knees hit the mattress. She brought him down with her, still kissing him like she had missed him for days. She couldn't help but smile into the kiss again, as it just felt natural to be like this with him this time, no awkwardness at all.

Ryan felt the slight tug as they moved back into the bed in unison; even days before this would have worried him, but he knew now that there was a plan in the making, he knew the order of things now and wouldn't have to worry about expectations.
He flopped down on top of Sharpay lightly, smiling into the kiss as he rested on his palms, keeping himself held above her so that his weight was held off of her. He liked the feeling of being like this with her, the togetherness of it all, they didn't even have to speak, they had a mutual understanding of what the other was thinking and feeling. He liked the fact that their relationship held surprise, but no guesswork. They were the perfect performing pair in any respect, that was the only thought he could think as he continued to kiss her as if he would die without her.
