Sitting around in her room and moping wasn't helping, Samantha decided. Her mother was just going to drive her crazy and her dad kept dropping by with lame euphamisms like 'Getting back on the horse'. So, after a quick glance outside to check the weather, Sam finally picked up her basketball again and headed out to the park.
It was a bit breezy, but otherwise warm and sunny, so she knew she wouldn't need a jacket once she got started but she picked up her zip up hoodie on the way out anyway.
When she got to the courts she saw that, thankfully, there wasn't anyone else around. Good. She'd just do some shooting and maybe sprint the court a couple of times to keep her endurance up. Even if Coach Bolton refused to see that a girl could play basketball didn't mean that the college she got into wouldn't have a girls team. Sure, it was harder to get on a team if you weren't recruited, but Sam was willing to be second string for a while if it gave her a chance.
Lining herself up at the first HORSE position, Sam began to toss a few in the bucket. And it felt good. Shake her head, Sam smiled at the thought that mayber her dad had been right.

Jason was bored out of his MIND. He thought to himself "I going for a walk." He was out the door in a flash. He stared to walk be the basktball hoops when he saw a girl playing basktball. He walked over to the girl and said,"Hi. I'm Jason Cross. Who are you? Were you at the basktball try-outs? I think I've seen you befor?"

Tucking the ball under her arm instead of shooting it as she had been preparing to do, Sam turned and looked at the guy. Jason Cross. She'd seen him around before at school. And, of course, he had to witness her humiliation at the basketball tryouts. "Great," Sam thought to herself, feeling some of her unhappiness seep back into her good mood. "Yeah, that was me," Sam said to him, running a hand through her hair and letting it rest on the back of her neck for a moment.
"Name's Sam," she said, deciding then and there not to hold the whole tryout thing against him, she offered him a smile and asked "You want to shoot a few with me? I was just doing some HORSE positions anyway..."

You would help alot.""Wow she''s cute." Jason started thinking."I was thinking if you wanted to go out next Friday.""Please say yes?" Jason was thinking and hoping.

Sam felt herself blushing and knew her cheeks were bright red because of the heat she felt there. The compliment on her skills was something Sam could handle. She knew she was a great player, definitely enough to hold her own against the boys on the team at least, but then he had to go and ask her out? She wasn't used to that at all. So, instead of looking at him, Sam concentrated on the basketball hoop and lined up a shot. She ducked her head and let her hair partially cover her face, pretending to concentrate on her dribbling for a moment, until her blush had faded.
The ball sank into the hoop with a neat little swish of the net and Sam smiled. "Sure. Why not," she answered Jason, finally, in what she hoped was a casual, 'I don't really care that much but I have nothing better to do on Friday' way. Before he had a chance to respond, she hurried over to retrieve the ball, and moved to the next HORSE position.

Jason saw her blush and all he could do was smile. "Yes? AWSOME! I mean cool. Do you want me to pick you up at 7:00?" Jason said and asked. "Just wondering do you know how cute you are when you blush?" Jason asked smiling.

Jason's teasing about her blushing caused Sam to miss the next basket, so she was forced to move back into the previous HORSE position, which brought her close to him again. She quickly reached out and socked him one on the shoulder, trying to force back yet another blush, and said "Yeah, and if you really want this date thing to go through, you might want to stop teasing me about it... m'kay?" Sam arched her brow at him and then handed him the ball.
"Show me what you've got, Wildcat, and then we'll talk about Friday..." she said, managing a saucy smirk, as she tried to lighten up the moment. She was probably going to be a mental mess by Friday, unless she managed to keep her mind occupied by other things, but her mom and sisters were always harping at her about dating more often and there was no way she was going to back out now that she actually had one lined up.

Jason was just... will he really didn't know. "Sure and I wasn't teasing you about your blushing. I...I really do think your cute when you blush." This time it was his turn to blush, because he started to shudder. "So what do you like besides basketball?" The reason why he was shudder is, because he wasn't so great talking to hot girls. It wasn't one of the things the guys really showed him how.
