As a new student here at East High, he was more or less trying to figure out what to do. He hadn't been there very long and hadn't met many people yet, though he had been told by Troy about the Evans twins, and by what he had been told, Sharpay was the least friendly of the two, but he thought to wait and judge her after he'd met her, it didn't seem right to judge people before meeting them, at least not by his standards. Besides, she couldn't be any worse than anyone he'd dealt with in his past. He didn't want to think about that.
Walking around the school, he stumbled on what appeared to be the Theatre, which he knew, thanks to a few people that this was known by Ms. Darbus, the Drama teacher as her "Chapel of the Arts." Now he was good at just about everything he did, but he'd never at least given singing or anything related to it, any attention, after all why bother when there was a possibility he wouldn't be here long anyway? With his track record he may be here less than three months, like all the other schools. Though, as many schools as he'd been to, anything was possible.
He walked up to the stage and looked out, luckily he didn't see anyone, otherwise it'd be a bit weird. Then he heard noises from behind the stage, the curtain was down, obviously they were working back there for their next show, whatever it may be. He had no idea, he wasn't even ready to sign up for any new clubs or anything like that. He was too new for that, and too smart.
"I could've sworn I heard...." He thought as he looked around, but yet didn't see anything. He hoped nothing bad had happened, after all accidents did seem to happen at every school he'd been to, of course he hadn't been responsible, he just always seemed to have really bad luck, which was why he was hoping that at least at East High, that things would be different. He heard the noises again and then decided to say something. "Anybody here?" He called out, really hoping that somebody was here, and that he hadn't been hearing things.

Sharpay had been with Ryan in the dressing room since the bell for lunch rang throughout East High, doing things young forbidden couples do when they finally have their alone time, when she heard a male voice echoed around the theater. It was unfamiliar to her, and being the always curious one, she had decided to check things out for herself, motioning for Ryan to wait for her. As she left the dressing room, the Humuhumu rehearsal from just last summer once again came flashing to her mind. They had been interrupted for so many times there, it left her impatient like never before. She was hoping that this time, this would just be the first and only interruption, given that she and Ryan only have just an hour to be together.
She walked towards the stage carefully, pulling the curtains just enough to let herself peek over it. Her brown eyes scanned the large hall and it finally stopped at the unfamiliar male that was standing there on the middle. Her natural girl instincts had made her react suddenly, making her smile as she observed at how extremely cute this guy is. After looking him over, she stepped out of the curtains, smiling at the new guy. "Hey, I'm guessing you're new. I haven't seen you around here." She said, as she made her way towards him. She held her hand out to him and smiled, "Sharpay Evans." She said in a flirtatious way, giggling lightly. She had temporarily forgotten about her boyfriend waiting in the dressing room at the moment.

He was shocked to hear a woman's voice behind him, at first he had thought he was hearing things but was relieved when he wasn't. Then when she spoke, he knew right off hand who she was, right before she said her name. "Yes, I'm new, actually I haven't been here very long...By the way, my name is Jake." He wasn't about to use his last name, most peole laughed at it anyway, it's not like he'd chosen it. He sighed for a second.
His dad had been the reason he had such a messed up last name, though he didn't really have a very good relationship with his dad, and his mother had just passed away so he didn't really have anyone else, other than his three younger siblings. They were the only reason why he hadn't gone up against his father yet. He was just waiting for the right time to do what he'd been waiting to do ever since the triplets were born. He'd been more of a father to them than their own dad was.
"Well Sharpay, I've heard quite a bit about you." That was the truth. Troy had told him to avoid any traps she might set, even though, in reality now, it didn't seem like she was that evil. No, she just seemed like a regular girl, and he hadn't been around too many of those, other than his two younger sisters and then he was lucky enough to have one younger brother. He smiled a little as he looked at Sharpay, but he then shook her hand.
"It looks like something is going on here, with the curtain closed and all, everybody here must be getting ready for a new play or something." He said, he was very smart and was usually able to get by without really trying. Though most courses he'd had, weren't at all challenging, that's why coming here, he'd taken whatever courses he could get, even the harder ones. Though he wasn't really sure how well he'd do in those classes.

Sharpay giggled even more when he shook her hand and said that comment about hearing a bit about her. She tossed her golden locks over her shoulder, still smiling at him. "Really? I hope those stuff are true and not just some of the many rumors, like me being the evil Ice Queen, and such." She said, shaking her head lightly. Well it's the truth now, she's the Ice Queen no more, and most especially not evil, that's what Ryan told her anyway.
Ryan. She suddenly remembered her boyfriend who was left at the dressing room at that moment. She suddenly felt guilty for being all flirty with someone else when she already has a boyfriend. She backed-off slightly from Jake, but still keeping the smile on her face as he commented about the theatre. "Yeah, Ms. Darbus does like keeping the detention students busy by letting them make the props for the productions. So if you're not into that kind of stuff, you better turn off your cellphone when she's around." She said, shaking her head lightly as she, too, looked around the theatre, suddenly admiring the handiworks of the detention students.

Ryan was leaning against the mirror of their dressing room, it seemed as if he was mirroring the same exact position he had taken up at Lava Springs that fateful day that they decided that they could never sing Humuhumu again, at least not without winding up in a particularly steamy make-out session, which they seemed to have a harder and harder time avoiding. He chuckled lightly, they were insatiable for one another because they were in love, if it had been any other couple he would have credited to teen hormones, but he knew with them it was different, he was going to spend the rest of his life with her, she wasn't just some passing fancy of a teenaged boy.
He let out a sputtering breath as he laughed, noticing that his hat had been tossed clear across the room, he had half a mind to leave it, let them wonder why Ryan Evans was suddenly hatless, let them wonder why he was smiling all the time, let them wonder because he knew that deep down, they'd never guess what was really going on with the twins. He was slowly starting to get impatient by waiting, he missed Sharpay that was true, but what he hated was that he didn't know what was going on. He scratched his head lightly and then hopped off the vanity he had been sitting on before making his way slowly to the stage.
Ryan walked out onto the stage and saw Sharpay standing there, talking to a guy that he'd never seen around before, he smiled softly and walked over. "Hey Shar," He shouted softly, trying to make it seem as if he hadn't been in the dressing room. He walked over to the new guy and extended his hand lightly. "Ryan Evans," He said with a smile, waiting for the new kid to properly introduce himself.

"Well yeah, actually....they did mention the ice princess statement a couple of times, I heard it in the gym actually. Alot of people seem to think so, but just by looking at you, I can tell...that's changed, if it were actually true, because you don't seem heartless like an ice princess would actually be." He said with a small laugh, the idea she was like that, would be quite surprising as a matter of fact. Things were interesting here, at least so he had thought.
"As for Ms. Darbus, actually, she doesn't scare me as much as the Drama teacher at my old school, if people think Ms. Darbus is bad...well my old teacher, who taught the same subject was worse. If she didn't like what you said in her class, even if you just answered a question wrong, she'd send you for a week's detention. The Theatre, was always interesting at my old school, though, I never was the lead in any of the productions. There weren't any musicals or anything like that, just the basic...kind of like the ones you see on t.v. where the characters were all so overdramatic about every little issue, even when it came to the basic dating stuff. They just overdid themselves." He looked around. "So, do you two go out for the theatre?"
He asked Sharpay right as her brother Ryan came in, of course he didn't know that they were brother and sister just yet. He smiled at Ryan, and then extended his hand and shook Ryan's. "I'm Jake..." That's all he said, he didn't like his last name so he never used it when introducing himself to others. His mother had made sure he was always polite, even to his enemies, it just was how he had grown up.

Sharpay turned her head as she heard Ryan's smooth voice as he said her name, smiling at him as innocently as she could. Even if she knew this guy doesn't even know they are twins, there was no doubt he'll find out soon, especially when Ryan had mentioned the last name too when he introduced himself. They couldn't have another person being suspicious now, could they.
"Hey Ry," she answered back, waving at him. She gave him a small, almost unnoticeable wink before turning her head back to Jake, smiling. She was watching his reactions, trying to see if he had figured out that she and Ryan are twins or at least related, because most people, even Ms. Darbus had a hard time remembering. She blames her naturally flirty attitude, wherein Ryan wasn't excused from her flirtatious looks, although now, it was really meant for him alone, and she was really flirting with him.
"We're actually co-presidents of the Drama club," Sharpay answered Jake's question proudly. She and Ryan are a good team in so many ways, and she would never trade him for another. "We've starred in 17 school productions already." She added with pride, tossing her blond hair again over her shoulder and smiling proudly.

Ryan gave a nod, making a mental note to try and not forget this guy's name, Jake.... with no last name to speak of. He chuckled lightly and shrugged, hooking his thumbs into his front pants pockets as he looked out off then stage. He gave Sharpay a light sidelong wink and then proceeded to pretend to rub his eyes, playing off his flirty gestures as mere coincidence to the average person, it was another part of the fun game of their hidden affair, keeping things flirty, while keeping things hidden. He chuckled lightly at this idea that their lives on a whole had become an acting challenge, so there was no doubt in his mind they would lose the leads now.
"So, Jake," He started slowly clearing his throat and looking appraisingly at him. "I hope my sister here hasn't frightened you off from joining the Drama Club." He quipped playfully, shooting a teasing look that could easily be confused for that of a brother jesting his sister, which is what he would hope Jake would see, and he was hoping Shar would be able to surpress the giggles she tended to develop when he said things like that. He let out a light feigned sneer of exasperation when he saw Sharpay toss her hair over her shoulder, when in reality he wanted to do nothing more than to lean over and kiss her, he'd make sure to pay her back later.
He was hoping by now that Jake got the cue they were related, because despite the fact, he loved his girlfriend with his whole being, he needed an excuse to cover up the fact they were suddenly very flirty towards one another, they had the best excuse of them all as twins, they could easily blame the fact they had a connection that people couldn't relate to. It was easier to believe than the Evans twins spending the entirety of their free time making out with one another. He cleared his throat again, smiling behind his fist as he look off at nothing in particular.

Sharpay knew when she heard Ryan speak that she had to stop herself from giggling now, especially when he's around. It had been okay when she was alone with Jake, whereas now, she knows her giggles would give the secret away, especially when it comes with blushing and acting even more flirtatious towards Ryan, the only guy who's responsible for her flirty giggles. She instead bit her lip to suppress her giggles, which she thought seconds later was an even more wrong move.
She decided to cover it up quickly with a smirk, looking at Ryan with a feigned defensive expression. "I am so not frightening!" She crossed her arms over her chest, turning her head towards Jake slowly, her expression changing to an innocent one. "I'm not frightening, right Jake?" She batted her eyelashes slowly at Jake, while a smirk tugged on the corners of her lips. Flirting with Jake was her subtle pay back to Ryan, she knows that he knows this is just for fun. She had to admit it was really fun teasing each other like this, it was fun when they were just siblings then, but as lovers the teasing game was even more playful and the things that happen right after is what makes it even more fun for the two of them.

"Actually I'm not sure if I'll join any clubs this year. Although, I kind of figured you guys were related, when you said your last name was Evans too, Ryan." He said to Ryan, after all he wasn't sure he'd be at East High long enough to really join anything anyway. Not with his track record, the last few schools he'd been to, since the start of nineth grade had been, entering and leaving every three months, it was enough to drive even the most sane person crazy. He would just have to be extremely careful, in more ways than one.
"I don't know, Sharpay, some think otherwise, probably why you had the lead in every single one of the plays for the past seventeen shows, up until Troy and Gabriella came along of course." He said with a smile, he knew more than most people, after all he did his research. It was the best way to get to know people without prying too much. After all he didn't need to know every little detail of everyone's lives here at East High. Though he could tell that there was something going on between the twins, that was for sure.
"Although I have to say in my own oppinion, you kind of...well to be quite honest, seem more flirty than anything else. And you Ryan, seem to be more of a helper than anything else." He smirked a bit, he could tell that they really cared about eachother, but no matter what went on when they went home, he wasn't going to judge anyone, that just wasn't who he was. "Actually I've been told...that...um...well, you guys have an odd relationship even for brothers and sisters, at least that's what I've been told by almost everyone I've met." He said with a small smile, he knew something was up, and he was going to see if he knew what that actually was. He was far too smart for his own good, atleast so others usually thought. He wasn't afraid of it actually.

When Ryan heard Jake speak of the odd relationship that he had with his sister, his face faltered for a slight moment, knowing full well that he didn't mean the type of relationship that he was thinking, he could be safe in the realization that no one knew what was going on with them yet. He could feel his heart pounding slightly in his chest, but he decided instead of letting it show, it was time to use some of his old school acting skills that he'd come to rely on so much as of late.
"I would say we have a pretty normal relationship," He said with a light smirk, leaning his elbow nonchalantly on Sharpay's shoulder, playing up the annoying brother angle in hopes that Jake wouldn't question any of the weirdness from the Evans, he didn't want them to be found out yet, but someone they had just met, that would mean that maybe they were being too obvious. "I mean, I guess as normal as you can be when you're twins with someone of the likes of Shar here." He said jokingly as he brought his finger to his temple, swirling it around and letting out a whistle as if to say that she was crazy.
He turned lightly to Sharpay and shot her a sneer and stuck out his tongue lightly before turning back to Jake, hoping to change the subject. "You must get that though, weird siblings." He stated in hopes that Jake would just move on, and that Sharpay wouldn't give him too hard a time for his teasings of her.

Sharpay's eyes widened slightly at the mention of the odd relationship she and her brother has. She didn't think they were that obvious, unless Jake means odd in a different way, but whatever it is, it made her think that they would have to be even more careful, most especially her. She knew she was the one who initiates most of the subtle flirting that happens in public, but can she help it if Ryan is so irresistible, most especially when he's acting so innocent.
She cleared her throat as she decided to bring out the best of her acting skills, she needed it badly in these situations. She rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders as she pretended to push Ryan's elbow away from her. "They probably say it was odd because well, can I help it if Ryan is always following me around?" She said, looking mockingly at her brother, before turning her face back to Jake. "When you're twins with someone like me, you should learn how to catch up fast." She pointed to herself, then waved her hand off and placed it on her hip.
She was thankful that Ryan suddenly made an effort to change the subject, she knows she wouldn't be able to keep the teasing sister facade any longer, at least not without giving another hint to Jake to prove his point, the least thing she wanted to do right now.

Easier said than done, even with Ryan saying what he did, he knew that they were just an odd set of people, he could tell they loved eachother, which could be mistaken in some level for the whole fact they were twins, but he'd seen it happen too many times where some people, mostly people he'd met at his old school, there were cousins Marcus and Regina, at his old school and most people thought it had been just the fact they loved eachother as cousins, but...he knew otherwise, he was too smart for his own good and had found out the truth that Marcus and Regina liked eachother in a different way, in more of a girlfriend and boyfriend way instead of the usual relationship cousins had. Which is why it was so easy for him to spot the difference in Sharpay and Ryan's relationship.
"Regardless of what others say it's not anybody's business. I don't judge people, regarding what they say or do. Because it's not any of my business, I'm smart enough to see beyond what most people do, but that doesn't mean I would go around causing trouble for other people, it just doesn't work that way. Being odd or different than most sibling relationships, is okay, at least as far as I'm concerned. I don't judge people based on religion, who they're with, or anything of the sort, it's just not how I was raised. Especially because two of my old friends, who were cousins, Regina and Marcus McAdams, they tried to prove to everyone that there wasn't something going on between them, but they told me the truth that they'd been secretly dating for two years, they were only fifteen at the time that they told me that, and that was last year when they told me the truth. So I don't judge people regardless, because even if I wouldn't have known that, they were still interesting people. They both were involved in basketball and track and field, but both were very smart as well." He thought as he mentioned his old friends back at his old school. He hadn't talked to them since he left that school, but that was back in the year that he would've been in nineth grade when he met them, and now he was a Senior. He had hoped that they were doing alright and were happy.
He was definitely the kind of guy who would think a relationship may be a bit odd, but he didn't judge people because of stuff like that. After all people were different, some had relationships that worked with other people and some did not. It was just how the cards were on the table. He knew Ryan and Sharpay were trying to dodge the question, he'd asked, that also sparked a reason for him to believe that there was something more than just the brother and sister connection.

Sharpay at first didn't get what Jake was trying to say, but as soon as he got to the story of the two cousins, her mouth dropped and her eyes widened in shock. Jake really did see through their facade, just when she was so convinced that they did a great job at acting like the normal brother and sister they were.
"B-but..." she started, she wanted to say something but she didn't know exactly what to tell him. If she asks how he saw it, it was like she had confirmed that it was true. She doesn't want to make any decisions without Ryan. She slowly turned her head towards Ryan, looking at him kind of worriedly and questioningly although she was still trying her hardest to make her face look cool, calm and collected. Should we let him know?

Ryan started choking on his breath as soon as Jake explained the whole story to them about the cousins, he had really thought they were doing a pretty good job at not seeming odd, not making it seem as if something too out of the ordinary was going on. He would have laughed if his heart wasn't beating so fast in his throat, he was starting to feel that maybe they weren't the best actors after all. The one thing that worried him was that if the new kid knew, then what did that say for the rest of East High.
He turned to Sharpay with a light gulp, his hands beginning to sweat nervously. He took a deep breath and let it peter out slowly, trying to figure out how everything had gotten so flipped as of late. When he noticed the look on her face, that was when he chuckled softly, knowing full well that if anyone saw them now, there would be now way of hiding that something was going on. He gave her a light nod and took her hand softly, squeezing it in reassurance, trying to look anywhere but at Jake, he wasn't even sure what to say, he was just hoping that everything Jake had said was true, they needed as much support as they could get.
