The day after the talent show, Sharpay decided on being alone. She made a silly excuse about needing to spend time alone ("I need to spend some quality time with Boi.") which unsurprisingly the Sharpettes believed. Truth is, she just wanted to sort this thing out, all by herself.
She requested, or rather ordered Fulton to clear the pool for the day. For Sharpay, the pool is the most relaxing spot. There's just something about the clear, sparkling, blue water that makes one feel calm.
Just like Ryan's eyes... She sighed as she thought once again about her brother. Shrugging it off, she removed her sparkling pink robe to reveal a blue tankini generously sparkled with rhinestones, before sitting on her pink chaise. She had tied her long blond locks into a ponytail.
She leaned back on the chaise and closed her eyes, letting the last rays of summer sun warm her body.
Although she knew only one person can really make her cold heart melt...the one person she could never have. And that person is the one that she shouldn't be thinking about.
Maybe it's a good thing he's not always following me around anymore...that way, I can easily forget my feelings for him... She opened her eyes to look at the empty chaise beside hers.
I miss him though...so much. She sighed, still gazing at the yellow chaise as if she can see her brother taking his spot on there.

Ryan had been searching for his sister since she had left the stage after the talent show, it seemed as if she'd been avoiding everyone, especially him. As Ryan walked through the lobby of the resort he couldn't help but feel melancholy. she's avoiding me. None of the staff seemed to know where she'd gotten to, his parents were even less of a help, and the Sharpettes seemed to keep talking about her dog.
Ryan knew this was a lie because he knew for a fact Boi had made his way into Ryan's room and stolen his favorite hat of the moment and torn it to shreds.
Ryan ran his hand through his hair and let out a defeated sigh as he made his third lap around the inner working of the resort, and yet still no sign of her. maybe it's for the best, she's obviously hiding, I'll grant her wish and go away.
Ryan slumped towards the heavy glass doors, his walk heavy and dejected as he realized his best friend wanted nothing to do with him anymore. He looked out to the pool with a heavy sigh, and when he noticed Sharpay sitting by the pool, looking so calm, so beautiful, so entrancing.
"Shar!" Ryan screamed out excitedly, forgetting the pool was still seperating them, as he ran straight into it, hitting the water with a heavy splash.

Sharpay jumped a little too high, her brother's loud and excited voice being the cause and the sudden splashing of the water that followed being another cause.
"Oh my God, Ryan!!!" She screamed. Seeing that no lifeguard is around, probably because of her order, she instantly jumped into the pool, swimming right towards her brother.
But then again, she suddenly thought of a reason on why she jumped in. She knew that Ryan knows how to swim, and that there's no reason to save him.
Then realization hit her. She knew she is excited to see her brother as well, probably more excited than Ryan himself.
When she finally found him underwater, she swam faster towards him and upon reaching his shoulders, she wrapped her arms around his neck, which is a wrong thing to do if you're trying to save someone. And it's also wrong if that someone is your brother.

Gah That was the one thought resonating in Ryan mind as he collided into the pool fully clothed, there was no use in trying to protest the fall, he was going in hat first whether he liked it or not. He was also going to hit the faux rock floor, once again, there was nothing he could do about it.
Ryan could hear his sister's scream even underwater, He couldn't help but chuckle while keeping the water firmly out of his mouth and nostrils. He hadn't meant to worry her, but then again, he hadn't meant to wind up sitting on the pool floor with a bump on his head either. Karma
Ryan was about to kick his legs up towards the surface when he saw the ripple effect from his sister's dive.
I give it an 8, poor form
He finally righted his feet on the pool floor and started to kick up, only to feel his sister's arms wrap around his neck. The shock from her actions sent a charge through his spine causing him to bash his head on the pool walls.
The excruciating pain coursing through his veins forced him out of the water suddenly, his head leaned back against the wall, still floating in the water while he groaned.

The shocked look in her brother's eyes reminded Sharpay that he is, in fact, her brother. She quickly pulled away her arms, but when he hit her head, she gasped once again and resurfaced right after he does.
After taking a deep breath, she looked at Ryan with her eyes full of worry. They were again at an awkward position; him leaning his back against the wall, and her floating right in front of him...a little too close in front of him. But she did not think about that at the moment; she was more worried about her brother.
"Ry, are you okay? What happened?" She asked him, placing a hand at the back of his head, trying to soothe the pain she knew he was feeling.

Ryan let his head rest back lightly on the stone pool deck, letting his wet head fall lightly back onto Sharpay's hand. He was having a hard time peicing together the events of the last few minutes, it seemed to have all happened so fast that the last thing he could remember happening was standing opposites the chaises where Sharpay was.
Ryan let his eyes close as he bit his lip lightly. There was something he wasn't sure if he remembered. Did she wrap her arms around my neck? He shook his head lightly and slowly opened his eyes to see Sharpay's brown ones looking at him in concern.
"Hey," He said his voice hoarse from inhaling pool water. "I found you." He stated victoriously in an exhausted breath. "It took me all night and day... and night again," He added with a slight giggle. "I thought you were mad at me." He said, slight delirium filling his tone.
"I didn't want you mad at me, I love you too much." He added as he let his eyes slide closed again.

Sharpay felt her heart jump a mile when he said those words. I love you too much. Had she been not careful, she would have kissed him right then and there.
She bit on her lip as she felt like she was going to cry soon. Her hand slid down from the back of his head to the back of his neck, without realizing it.
"I was mad at you, alright," she started saying in a soft voice, looking at the water, "but I could never get mad at you for too long."
She turned her eyes back to him, hoping he'd open his blue ones to meet hers as she said, "I love you too much as well." You have no idea... she added in her mind. She felt a warm tear slid down her cheek, dropped down to join the pool waters.

Ryan felt a twinge of pain deep in his chest when she admitted that she had been mad at him, he couldn't help but feel pained to hear those words leave her mouth. He felt her hand trace down the back of his neck lightly, his breath hitching in his throat. A weird tingle was forming in the base of his neck. Get it together man.
He gave her a weak smile when she uttered the words he needed to hear "but I could never get mad at you for too long." His heart skipped a beat for a moment, he couldn't help but feel relieved, but he wasn't sure why.
He let his eyes open slowly, the throbbing in the back of his head was starting to disappear. He gave her an encouraging smile, hoping she'd look him back in the eyes soon, he couldn't help but feel empty when she didn't look at him when she talked to him. "I love you too much as well." Something about those words struck a chord with him as he watched a tear fall from her face.
He reached out unconsciously and wiped the tear from her eyes. He looked at her deeply and earnestly. "Shar, something's wrong, I know it, you can tell me, anything, I promise."

Sharpay almost got lost in his blue orbs when he looked at her deeply. She had never felt this way before, not even with Troy Bolton. And everyone thought she was in love with him. That's what she thought as well.
She brought her attention back to her brother and when the question registered in her mind, she looked away. You can tell me anything. That was the problem. What was she going to tell him?
"Ry...it's," she took a look at her brother and shook her head, "it's just too...complicated." She said. She slowly removed her hand from his neck. She took a look around the pool, and the mini-waterfalls caught her eyes. She started to swim towards it, and away from her brother.
She wanted to tell him so badly. They have never kept a secret from each other...and it just felt really bad to lie to him. And although it's easy to lie, Ryan can still tell. He just knew her too much.
When she reached the mini-cave behind the waterfalls, she hoisted herself up and sat on the edge.

Ryan was staring at her in disbelief, what couldn't she tell him, they were family, they were twins. "What do you mean it's complicated?" He nearly shouted as he began to feel the absence of her hand on his neck. He kept watching her as she thought.
Look at me Shar, tell me, please
As she swam away from him and towards the waterwall he slammed his head angrily against the stone again. He ran his hands through his hair, and sighed confused at the battle that was going on inside his head.
Ryan let out a labored breath and swam after her, his movement impeded by the fact he was fully clothed. He dipped his head underwater as he dipped under the waterfall and saw her sitting there, on the edge, he couldn't help but be pained by the look in her eyes.
"I'm not letting you out of here until you tell me what's wrong." He stated in a harsher voice than he had meant to speak to her in. His eyes softened, pleading with her.

Sharpay's eyes widened when she saw him approaching. She could feel her heartbeat racing. And when he resurfaced and spoke, she jumped slightly at the sudden harshness of his voice. But her heart melted at the softening of his eyes.
She wanted so badly to tell him, but she did not want to scare him away. She had already lost him as a partner before, she couldn't afford to lose him as a twin brother as well. But she could not deny the feelings...they were so strong, even she herself is having a hard time controlling them.
She looked back at Ryan, tears welling up in her eyes. She motioned for him to come closer to her.
This is it...I'm going to tell him. She prayed that he would not push her away, that he would not hate her for feeling this way. She felt her hands suddenly turning cold, she only feels this way whenever she's nervous.

Ryan was staring at her, his heart dropping into his stomach with every second that passed. In the pit of his stomach he couldn't help but feel that something was utterly wrong, the corners of his eyes were starting to sting sadly, it was part of their connection, he tried his best not to let the tears leak from his eyes as he moved closer to her.
He looked up into her eyes trying to communicate everything he needed to say, with just a look. He grabbed her hands and stared intently into her eyes.
"Please, tell me what's wrong." He said his voice breaking slightly.

Sharpay felt her heart broke into tiny pieces when she saw the sadness in his eyes. She never wanted him to feel this way, but their special bond makes them share their feelings, whether they like it or not.
What bothered her though was if Ryan could also feel the way she is feeling right now. She took a deep breath and looked into Ryan's eyes once again, letting her tears fall.
"Ryan...you have to promise me you won't hate me. I would seriously die if you hate me after I say this to you," she said, her voice cracking and her shoulders shaking. She gently squeezed his hand, hoping that he'll keep his promise, if ever he promised.

Ryan let the tears stream openly down his face down, his breath paining in his chest. When she squeezed his hand he squeezed back as tight as possible, trying not to crush her hands from the adrenaline building in his chest.
"I promise," He started slowly, his voice dying out. "No matter what you say, I will always love you." He said softly as he leaned up and pressed his forehead to hers.

Sharpay closed her eyes as Ryan pressed his forehead to hers. It's painful to be this close to him now. They were so near yet so far. She opened her eyes to meet his. She knew he could probably hear and feel her heart beating.
"Ryan..." she said in a voice barely above a whisper. She could never say it enough with words, so she thought of only one way to express her feelings towards him. She placed her hands on his cheeks, and closed her eyes as her lips met his, with tears still falling down her now warm and red cheeks.
